The shipping industry is among the hardest hit by the global crisis brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to the financial strain experienced across virtually all sectors, shipping companies have been particularly affected by Brazil’s low immunization rates, which have contributed to the uncontrolled rise in COVID-19 infections among maritime crew members.
It is against this backdrop that Alessander Lopes Pinto and Raquel Guedes Sabb published an article in the renowned industry magazine Revista Portos e Navios.
In the article, the authors discuss measures adopted by regulatory authorities and emphasize the urgent need for a coordinated discussion around solutions to mitigate the ongoing financial and operational challenges that shipping companies have been facing for over a year and a half.
